Controlling what synch across devices

Am new to Apple Music. My music library is too big to synch the entire catalogue and has maxed out my iPhone storage. With the iTunes interface I was able to pick and choose the playlists to download. I haven't figured out how to control this in the Apple Music app. The iTunes on my PC will now only display Podcasts and Audiobooks.
