My trackpad is not connecting to my Macbook Pro

My trackpad was never much used since I purchased my wireless Magic Mouse. But it sat there connected and ready to use. Mostly during periods when I was charging the Magic Mouse.

Today I cannot get Bluetooth to connect the two. The batteries in the Trackpad are fresh. When you push the button on the side the green light shines for a few seconds. With system settings open to Bluetooth, I click on connect for the trackpad. The ball swirls for 15-20 seconds then reverts to "not connected".

Any ideas?

Did you try to remove the Trackpad from the list of Bluetooth devices and pair it again after that?

Hover your mouse over the name of the Trackpad in the Bluetooth settings and click on the little cross to do that.

Igo, thank you. I deleted the Trackpad from the list of Bluetooth devices. I push the button on the side of the Trackpad and he green light glows for a second or two but the MacBookPro cannot "find" it to add it back to the list. "Nearby Devices" is just twirling and searching.

Hope the helps lead toward a diagnosis.

Might it be possible that when the MacBook Pro connected to my R-KS hearing aid it somehow interferes with the connection to the Trackpad?

I can show you a screenshot of my Bluetooth system settings if that would be useful.

That bluetooth connection to my hearing aids is useful, but tricky, so I don't want to try deleting the connection to the hearing aids unless you think might be worth it.

Just discovered that when I held the side button while the MBP was searching for nearby bluetooth devices, the Trackpad appeared as found! Next to it was a "connect" button. But when you pressed that connect button, the connection was never made. Just like before it was deleted from the Bluetooth list. And for some reason, not having been connected, the Trackpad disappears from the Bluetooth list.
