AirPods connecting to random people

When I open my AirPod pro 2 case around other phones it offers to connect to them even though the case is not in pairing mode. It is a huge nuisance for both me and them.

When other iPhone users detect that you open the lid on your AirPods, it is not because your AirPods are in pairing mode. On other iPhones, your AirPods pop up, and give a message that they are NOT the owner of these AirPods, but if they want to connect to them, they must reset the AirPods - this must be done physically on your AirPods, so there is no risk of others being able to connect to your AirPods.

Unfortunately, this cannot be avoided, as Bluetooth devices have a tendency to find each other. If you quickly open the lid, take out your AirPods, and close the lid again, you can often prevent other iPhones from picking up the signal.
