Accessory cannot be used – This accessory requires too much power iPhone 17 Pro Max

Every now and then, usually with longer breaks in between, I use an external IR thermal camera. Mine is a GW192A. Today I wanted to use it again to look for a thermal bridge, and I had to realize: the iPhone won’t let me anymore! A popup appears saying, “Accessory cannot be used – This accessory requires too much power.” That has to be a bad joke, right?! I thought, it’s still too new to be broken, so I plugged it into an iPhone 16 Pro — and lo and behold, no complaints. So someone must have had the brilliant idea to change something on the iPhone 17 Pro. Is it just me?
