Mouse Drag-and-Drop (Moving/Dragging) Not Working on iPad Pro with iPadOS 26.0

Hello everyone,

I'm experiencing a new and very frustrating bug on my iPad Pro (M4) running iPadOS 26.0

When I have an external mouse connected, I am completely unable to perform any drag-and-drop actions.

Here is the specific symptom:

  • For example, on a webpage or in an app that has "cards" or other draggable elements (like a Trello board or rearranging favorites), I will click and hold on a card to try and move it.
  • However, the card or element simply will not move. It's as if the "drag" part of the action is not being registered by the system.

To be clear on what is working:

  • Regular clicking, pointing, and scrolling with the mouse work perfectly fine.
  • The issue is only with the "click-and-hold-to-drag" gesture.
  • If I use my finger (touch input) to drag the exact same card on the screen, it works correctly.

The problem seems to be isolated specifically to external mouse input for dragging. I have already tried disconnecting and reconnecting the mouse, but the issue persists.

Is anyone else experiencing this? It seriously impacts productivity, as I can't move files, organize lists, or interact with many web apps properly.

Thanks.

It sounds like a bug in 26.0 and might or not be fixed when they release 26.1.

These are instruction on resetting the Bluetooth Module but I would only use it as a last resort.

There is no specific option to only reset Bluetooth settings on an iPad Pro running iPadOS 26.0

Keep in mind that this process will remove all saved Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN/APN configurations, in addition to resetting Bluetooth to its default state.

To reset the network settings on your iPad Pro with iPadOS 26.0:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap General.
  3. Scroll down and tap Transfer or Reset iPad.
  4. Tap Reset.
  5. Select Reset Network Settings.
  6. Enter your passcode if prompted.
  7. Tap Reset Network Settings again to confirm.

Your iPad will restart after this process. You'll then need to reconnect to your Wi-Fi networks and re-pair any Bluetooth devices.

Same issue, only I’m on an iPad A16 running version 18.7.1. I was considering updating to 26 but now I’m having second thoughts. I’ve found that the click-and-drag function will work in some apps if you use the right mouse button to click instead of the left. However this doesn’t fix for every app and some apps such as Zinnia are giving me trouble with scrolling horizontally in some places…
