Apple Music freezing on Windows in 2025. Is my library too big?
Has anyone ever managed to truly solve the Apple Music freezing on windows in 2025?
I have what seems to be a larger than most library and am forever having to restore it to a truely sorted system. Nothing wierd, (I prefer all artist's names and subsequent albums to capitalised then placed in folders) just neat enough so that I can locate an artist when I am checking my own library.
Since using iTunes, Apple Music and Music Bee over 20 years I am not sure if I should complain about this if my libraries size is the issue.
When I first purchased iTunes for Windows it informed me that it would be attempting to read my
Mp3 files and form it's own AAC library. Fine, it also added a terabyte of new files, but fine. That worked until iTunes was replaced with Apple Music. Apple Music was a bit more efficient but also did not rewrite Apple files, just copies them as it saw fit. Also fine, I would prefer that to erasing the original.
I now have over 5 terabytes of music files, which appears to do two things:
One: It slows down the accessing said library, and shows on certain (1000+) albums over three versions of each song. Take your pick, none are greyed out, but only the Apple Music files play.
Two: Apple Music itself seems confused with the Apple Music libray it established and the one I have on a hard drive. I think when I make change to the hard drive library (either adding new music via CD's, or correcting zipped downloads from third parties like Bandcamp or artist's websites).
Apple Music is continually freezing to the point where I cannot understand why I am paying for access to a blank screen with a spinning wheel.
