Deleting MAIL e-mails from an iphone

My wife has an iphone 14 with IOS 18.6.2 she has 1800 e-mails on it and we can't figure out how to delete them all. When we hit 'select' you have to select them all manually. On my phone another button comes up saying 'delete all' which is great.

Does anyone know if this is a problem with some iphones and how I can get around it?

iPhone 15, iOS 18

I have found my problem with deleting msgs.

In my wife's phone the MAIL app has under windows 'mailboxes' in the upper right hand corner there are 3 little dots. Click on them and a drop down window shows 'Categories' and 'List View'. If you select 'Categories' then you do not get a 'select all' window, if you select 'List view' you get one.

Thanks for your help

I have done this. However I believe I may have found another problem that is making the e-mail accumulate and not get deleted..

When I open MAIL it shows MAILBOXES inbox

Then under this is my wife"s account user name and then 3 more boxes listed i.e. sent, arhived, trash.

When I try deleting all from the 'inbox' I do not set the 'select all' button. However if I go to the 'sent' folder and 'edit' it has a 'select all' button.

I believe I have to get the 'inbox' moved to under her user name. I tried making a new folder under her name but it said the provider could not do it. Is there a way to make a new folder without going through the provider? It doesn't seem realistic that a user can't add or delete folders as they wish.
