My iPad 9th gen Home Screen icons is obscured by grey boxes

Recently, a lot of the icons on my Home Screen ( 9th generation) are obscured with a grey box, I have to tap them to see whic app they are. How do I restore the real ones. Version 18.6.2. Please help.
