F1 coming to Apple TV - how to record a race

A few of us (my son etc.) have gotten into watching F1 races on Sunday mornings. Since many of the races have start times that are very early for us (central time zone in the US), I would record them on the cable DVR at watch them at 9am or so. Can I do that when they go on Apple TV? Or is this going to force me to pay for some external device? If the latter, this is going to make a costly dent on F1 viewership. I really don't want to watch a race at 5 or 6 am on a Sunday.

Apple has a movie called ‘F1’ coming to Apple TV+ [per December 12 for my region] (also already available as a to-buy movie without subscription).

As far as I know, the regular F1 Grand Prix races are (and continue to be) on the F1 TV app and other licensed sports channels. I haven’t heard or read anything about other F1 content coming to Apple TV.

the appletv box itself has zero options for recording anything, so if one has the option of recording anything in apps on it them it's because the contrent provider allow one to record to cloud storage connected to their service

if it's apple that will be showing some f1 stuff then, I've never seen them support anything in terms of recording with their american football stuff, but one could always contact the provides you will be viewing f1 from to hear about options

Edit: Apparently Apple is bringing F1 GP to Apple TV (included in Apple TV+ subscription) in the US, beginning next year (season 2026), in a 5-year partnership.

(Press release 10/17:) Apple is the exclusive new broadcast partner for Formula 1 in the US - Apple Newsroom

Details on watching options (other than live viewing) will be disclosed in the coming months.

If it is anything like MLS or FNB, then replay options would be included.
