Microsoft's support article includes these instructions for macOS:

  1. Select File > Open.
  2. Navigate to the folder where the template file is stored.
  3. Select the template file and then select Open.
  4. Select File > Save As.
  5. In the dialog box, type a name for your new presentation in the Save As box.
  6. In the File Format box, choose PowerPoint Presentation (.pptx).
  7. In the Where box, select the folder you want to save the presentation in.

Thanks for the suggestion but it didn't work. I want to apply a template from the University I attend to an already created PPT presentation. In Microsoft the design tab has a way to browse your computer and select a template you've saved into an already created PPT. Is this not possible on iOS?

It's a little janky, first you have to make a new presentation with the template you want (see instructions above), then copy and paste the slides from your presentation into the new one. Use ⌘ + A to select all slides, then ⌘ + C and ⌘ + V to copy and paste the slides, respectively. The pasted slides should adopt the new template.

Thank you, Bubba. Very janky! It mostly worked. The animation didn't copy over. In the new presentation the animation selection is grayed out, so I can't add an animation. I had only 2 slides with animation. I can live with it. Being able to copy the presentation instead of starting over is very helpful.

Glad to hear it.
