Facetime camera light indicator turning on when camera is not in use - malware issue or just lagging? - URGENT

Hi everyone,

Over the past week or so I have been facing an issue that has been concerning me. Whenever I am on FaceTime and I close the camera for whatever reason, after sometime the green light indicator at camera on my MacBook ends up turning back on. Despite this, I check the FaceTime call and can see that my camera is closed, and I further get confirmation from the person that they cannot see me.

This has been concerning me as I am worried of any viruses or malware hacks that may have infected my MacBook.

Can anyone explain why this is happening? I have both restarted my laptop, and updated to the newest Tahoe version. My laptop is not necessarily being slow or unresponsive bar when it shuts down (due to low battery) and I turn it back on. Bar that, I would not say that I am noticing any unresponsiveness or drops in performance. I have checked for any unknown downloaded apps and extensions on safari but I did not find anything. I would like to make the point that this has only happened when I have been on FaceTime - I do not recall any other moment when I am using my (and not on FaceTime) where the camera light randomly turns green.

I would appreciate any indication.
