Apple TV 4K Refresh: When to Buy, and Is It Smart to Do So Now?

With Apple’s October 2025 event introducing the new M5-powered MacBook Pro, updated iPad Pro, and the second-generation Vision Pro headset, many are wondering if an updated Apple TV 4K could follow. Recent reports pointed to possible refreshes for the Apple TV, HomePod mini, and AirTag, yet none were announced at the event. Several sources now suggest that a new Apple TV 4K might arrive later this year, potentially featuring the A17 Pro chip, improved wireless performance through Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7, and enhanced integration with Apple Intelligence. However, given Apple’s slower update cycle for the Apple TV 4K and the limited hardware changes in recent revisions, I’m interested in hearing the community’s thoughts—is it more practical to purchase the current model now, or would waiting for a potential refresh be the wiser choice?

I was waiting as well and hoped it might be the quiet release in October but it isn’t. If you can hold out a bit longer, then wait. I can’t. I currently have the 2nd gen ATV 4K and want/need a 3rd gen with more space. I’m going to get this model, it will still be an upgrade for me. If there’s a new model coming I’ll have to get it later.

[It’s always the wiser choice to get the very latest model of any tech gadget].
