CODM Lag Fixes

The iPad 6th generation (2018) has less internal processing RAM (2GB) compared to newer models, which limits its ability to run the game smoothly, especially after updates that add more complex graphics and features.

Try these steps to improve performance

  1. Adjust In-Game Graphics Settings: This is the most effective fix.
    • Set Graphic Quality to Medium or Low.
    • Set Frame Rate to Very High or Max (if available) to prioritize smooth motion.
  1. Clear Background Activity
    • Close all other apps running in the background.
    • In Settings > General > Background App Refresh, toggle this feature off for unnecessary apps.
    • Manage Game Downloads:Uninstall and reinstall CODM. Then, only download the maps you play regularly, and skip downloading high-resolution character and weapon skins to save storage and processing power

  1. Hardware Considerations:

Reduce Heat: Lower your screen brightness while playing, and avoid playing while the iPad is charging, as overheating can cause performance throttling (lag). Using a phone cooler, as you mentioned, can help mitigate this.

Preload Shaders: Inside the CODM settings, look for an option to Start Shader Preload before starting a match.

Cellular Data Troubleshooting

If your iPad is a Wi-Fi + Cellular model and you can't access cellular data, here are the troubleshooting steps:

  1. Check Essential Settings:
    • Ensure Cellular Data is enabled in Settings > Cellular (or Cellular Data).

Toggle Airplane Mode on for about 10-15 seconds, then turn it off to soft reset the network connection.

  1. Verify Account and Hardware:
    • Make sure you have an active cellular data plan with your carrier and that your account is in good standing.

Power down the iPad, eject the SIM card, inspect it for damage, gently clean it with a dry cloth, and re-insert it firmly.

Check for a Carrier Settings Update in Settings > General > About. If a pop-up appears, tap Update.

  1. Reset Network Settings:

Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This will clear saved Wi-Fi passwords and cellular configurations, which can often resolve connection glitches. You'll need to re-enter Wi-Fi passwords afterward.
