MacBook Pro Irregular Black Screen - Wakes Briefly When Plugging In Charger

The Exact Symptoms:

Screen goes completely black at random times. Computer remains fully operational behind the black screen. NO image visible even with flashlight - this isn't a dim screen, it's completely off

• The key clue: When the screen is black, if I connect the charger AND press a key/trackpad, the screen wakes up perfectly normal for 2-3 seconds, then goes black again

• Problem is completely irregular - might work fine for several days, then suddenly fail. Fixes itself after closing the lid and being left alone (anywhere from minutes to days)

Any advice or similar experiences would be massively appreciated!

Sounds most unusual...

You can try reinstalling the macOS on top of the existing macOS to sort software issue if you recently upgraded

In or out of warranty you can get a free over the counter 'Apple Service Diagnostics' test /assessment

Make an appointment for a "hardware issue"
