MacBook won’t charge when dead

I recently was downgraded at work from a newer MacBook with a USB C back to the mag-safe chargers. I have never had a problem with a MacBook before.

Typically I keep my computer plugged in overnight to charge and throughout the day at my desk. About a month ago it died for the first time. I plugged it in. The charger would go in and out. The charger itself would go from orange to no light every four or five seconds. The icon on screen would show it being plugged in and then not at the same interval. I tried everything. I tried unplugging my charger. Then I tried it with a block instead of directly into the USB C port on my outlet. I tried another charger I had with and without a block. Then I tried another outlet. I tried someone else’s charger. Then another persons. Nothing would get it to work so I assumed the laptop was faulty and my work gave me a new one.

Well, this one just died for the first time since I got it. Same exact problem. Nothing is working. I’m not sure why this keeps happening or how to fix it once it starts. We never figured it out with the last one, I just had it replaced and the other sent off to get repaired. But our tech person can’t figure it out either. I obviously try to avoid letting it die but I feel like dying every few months shouldn’t just destroy the laptop. I’m not sure what to do at this point to get it to turn on. It’s been plugged in for about 20 minutes and it’s just going on and off. Maybe with many hours it’ll get enough charge with the four or five seconds at a time to turn on but it’s not a guarantee. Any idea what is causing this?
