Safari constantly opening new profile windows

I have two profiles set up on safari that's on my MacBook Air M2. One for personal browsing and the other for everything university related.

I've had this error that when I have a window with profile "A" open and none of profile "B" (non-existant or even reduced), a new window of profile "B" is opened every single time. Be it when I open a new window of profile "A" or when I do a 3 finger swipe between desktops.

This of course acts the same way be it for my personal or university profile.

Is there maybe a known way to fix this or a setting I can change to stop this?
