How to fix battery drain issues on iPad mini while playing Roblox?

My son has an iPad mini (A17 so relatively new)…brought Dec 2024. Issue started about 1wk ago whereby he plays Roblox for about 1hr and his battery is down by over 28%. Battery health is normal and at 80% and cycled 226 count.

tried removing and reinstalling Roblox but still the same. My daughter also has the same iPad and hers is OK. Battery health on hers though is at 90% health and cycled 222 count )so again roughly the same)…..I have checked everything I can think of, turned all back

ground stuff off, turned to lowest settings but nothing works. Any ideas? Would I need to wipe iPad and reinstall everything as o don’t think it’s a hardware issue? Any advice would be appreciated

In-Game (Roblox) Adjustments

  • Lower Graphics Quality: The most effective step is reducing the in-game graphics level. This lowers the workload on the GPU, directly saving battery.
    • Open Roblox and go into a game, then access the Settings.
    • Look for the Graphics Mode or Graphics Quality setting and set it to a lower level or Manual mode with fewer bars.
  • Reduce Volume: Turning down the in-game volume or using mute will reduce the power consumed by the speakers.

iPad System Settings Optimization

Adjusting these system settings can significantly reduce overall battery consumption, especially when running intensive apps like Roblox:

  1. Lower Screen Brightness: The display is a major power drain.

  • Open Control Center and drag the Brightness slider down to the lowest comfortable level.

    • Alternatively, go to Settings >Display & Brightness and ensure Auto-Brightness is turned On.

  1. Enable Low Power Mode: This automatically limits background activity and reduces visual effects.

  • Go to Settings >Battery and toggle Low Power Mode >On.

  1. Disable Background App Refresh: Prevent apps from updating content when you aren't using them.

  • Go to Settings >General >Background App Refresh and set it to Off for all apps, or selectively for all non-essential apps

  1. Turn Off Unnecessary Services

  • Disable Bluetooth in Control Center or Settings >Bluetooth if you're not using wireless accessories.

  • Review Location Services in Settings >Privacy >Location Services and set non-essential apps to Never

  1. Reduce Motion and Visual Effects:
    • Go to Settings >Accessibility >Motion >Reduce Motion >On
