iPhone 17/iOS26 CarPlay Pixelation

I’m jumping on the CarPlay/iPhone 17/iOS26 bandwagon – but with a bit of a unique problem. I’m in a Mercedes 2019 with a third-party Bluetooth CarPlay plug-in that I’ve used for years without any problems. I upgraded to iOS 26 on my iPhone 14 Pro Max and had no issues. Fast forward to my new iPhone 17 Pro Max with iOS 26.0.1, CarPlay is a disaster. But my CarPlay is not disconnecting - the screen is just incredibly pixelated and distorted. It’s still “works”, and the interface is fine, but you can barely see what’s on the screen. I’ve been reading a lot about the disconnection issues, but haven’t seen anything about what I’m experiencing. I’ve reset my iPhone, reset my cars infotainment system, and even purchased another third-party CarPlay Bluetooth connector from another brand and still experiencing the same pixelation issues. Also tried hard wiring CarPlay with the new phone and same exact issue. So I’m choking this all up to a mixture of the iPhone 17 and iOS 26. Curious if anyone else has this problem?

Terrible pixelation on IOS26 iPhone 17 air. Works fine with iPhone 15 and below. I suspect the “liquid” interface is causing this serious problem. Honda goldwing 23. Honda is “unaware” of this problem which makes sense since so few bikes are on the road and most goldwing owners are 60 plus years old and don’t really use this feature (or at least don’t care )

I’m currently renting a car on a trip – a 2025 Kia Telluride. CarPlay is working flawlessly. It’s a wired connection. Don’t believe there’s a Bluetooth option. But nonetheless, it definitely seems like certain vehicle models are prone to this CarPlay disconnection/pixelation, especially Mercedes. Really hope Apple fixes this in 26.1!
