Why won't my La Cie 2tb external HD mount onto my macbook air m4?
It does see the external HD in the system report under USB. However, it won't come up in disk utility and therefore I can't mount it. It is formatted exFat.

Getting a Drive to be Seen:
A. Mount in Recovery Mode:
What helps while using Disk Utility in Recovery Mode? Does it work then?
B. Turn Off Screen Time:
See if Screen Time is on in your settings —it may be restricting access.
C. Try an Administrator User:
If not an Administrator user, you might not have permissions to do add drives.
D. Single Out the User:
For troubleshooting purposes, create a new Administrator user, and see if it is then seen. If so, it is an issue with your current user. If not, then it is an issue with the entire macOS install.
