Double click on home button doesn’t open my wallet, it brings me back to the previous screen.

I installed Apple Pay and it worked that day but since then the double click on the home button (because my iPhone has Touch ID) only brings me back to a previous page.

If double-clicking the Home button doesn’t open Wallet, check Settings → Wallet & Apple Pay → Double-Click Home Button and ensure it’s enabled. If already enabled, try restarting your device.

The actual path for the double-click setting is Settings>Apps>Wallet & Apple Pay>Apple Pay Defaults>Double-click Side Button. If that's enabled, you might also try Settings > Accessibility > Side Button, then choose one of the other Click Speed options. The behavior you're seeing could be caused by not clicking fast enough. See if slowing it down works.

Good point.... If they're actually using iOS 16, I believe "apps" is not part of the path.

Yes, with iOS 17 Apple moved all app settings to Settings/Apps. I believe this was done so Apple avoided being criticized for giving priority to their own apps, so now all app settings, both Apple and 3rd party are in the same place
