when I start entering a number on iphone Phone app it opens an annoying box with suggested contacts. I don't want Siri or AI here. How can it be disabled? It happens on both IOS 18 and IOS 26

I don't think this is Siri or Apple Intelligence as the Siri Suggestions toggle won't turn this feature off, but rather is simple indexing that searches your numbers when you enter digits. There is no way to turn the feature off. You can submit feedback to Apple below.
