I am considering buying a refurbished macbook pro. I'm using a 2010 macbook pro that works great but of course can't be updated and can't use a lot of software like Turbotax. Where is a safe place to buy refurbished?

To be clear, buying refurbished directly from Apple is not just 'the best' place to buy, it's really the only safe place to buy. When buying from other outlets, you run the significant risk of getting a Mac subject to Activation Lock or enrolled in an MDM, in which case what you thought was an inexpensive Mac may turn out to be a very expensive doorstop.
