Apps (Launch Pad replacement) can't search

The Launch Pad replacement (named Apps so it will confuse every search engine and AI ever) cannot perform a search for me. Regardless of what I type in the Search area, the result is "No results found." Oh, I just tried one more thing: if I select one of the pre-defined group of Apps, then search does work. But that's not better. Is there something I can do so that it will search across all Apps? I'm using Tahoe 26.0.1. Thanks.

From IdrisSeabright in another post:

You *probably* need to re-index Spotlight. I've never had to do it but my understanding is that it can fix things like that.

Is that the same IdrisSeabright who completely missed this post and re-posted the same information? Sounds like they may be a bit clueless! ;-)

The bold is appropriate.

Command + Spacebar opens Spotlight and leaves Apps. Typing the name of the application causes Spotlight to ask whether I want to search iCloud Drive, the Web, or ask Siri. I'm glad it works for you. What you're showing is exactly what I would expect.

Launch Pad was great for those applications I seldom use but could start with one click and a few keystrokes.
