Downloading iCloud files in original folder structure on Mac

Hi, How can I stop linking my Mac and iCloud? Is it possible to download everything from iCloud in the exact same order as it was on my desktop? E.g., Folder with files, one folder inside another folder?

I presume you mean iCloud Drive, right? Not iCloud Photos?

Just copy & paste or move via drag and drop iCloud Drive files and folders to some other folder.

After you have verified that all files are properly transferred (and backupped elsewhere!), you can delete them in the iCloud folder via the Finder.

Let it finish deleting and the disable iCloud Drive in System Settings > iCloud Drive.

Just to clarify-- Dragging a file from the iCloud Drive folder to another folder on the Mac is just like dragging a file between any two Mac folders-- it's a "move" not a "copy." So the file will disappear from the iCloud Drive folder if it is dragged to another folder.

Option dragging will make a copy. That way, and Matti says, you can double check that you got what you wanted.
