How do you look up a Mac by it's serial number, now?

So this is fun. I just went to the applecare coverage page to do a serial number search for a Mac. The result: MacBook Pro. Thats it. No specific year/model identifier. It has a purchase date, but that really doesn't narrow it down. Certainly not enough for ordering replacement parts.

So is there ANOTHER place to search Mac serial numbers that will tell you exactly what model it is?

Leave it to apple to break something so simple and basic.
