White Macbook not booting

Have a white Macbook(2006?) here that turns on but won’t boot up. Not sure what OS it’s running either. I’d like to do some diagnostics but need some advice first before trying anything. Thanks for any help!

If you ever installed OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, then you can use that DVD installer as well (it will have the picture of the cat on the disc).

More than likely the internal Hard Drive is worn out or actually failing.

You can try booting into Safe Mode to see if that makes any difference....maybe it won't need to access the bad section of the drive since few things are loaded in Safe Mode.

Hi,

First, try resetting the SMC (System Management Controller) by holding down the Shift + Control + Option and Power keys together for a few seconds. If that doesn't work, restart the computer and hold the Option key to enter the boot manager, then use Disk Utility to repair the hard drive or try reinstalling macOS from the recovery partition.
