iOS 26 AutoFill treats two Amex cards with same last 4 digits as the same card

I’m having an issue with Apple’s AutoFill for credit cards on iOS 26.0.1. I have two different Amex credit cards. Their card numbers are completely different, but they both happen to share the same last 4 digits.

When I try to add both cards to AutoFill Cards in Settings, the first one adds fine. But when I try to add the second card, iOS shows a popup saying:

“A card with the same number has already been added. Do you want to replace it?”

The only options are Replace or Cancel. If I click Replace, it overwrites the first card I saved.

It seems like iOS may be identifying stored cards only by their last four digits, so it thinks they’re duplicates even though they’re completely different cards.

Has anyone else experienced this, or know if it’s a known bug or limitation?

Thanks!

I’m experiencing the exact same issue on iOS 26.0.1 as well. I also have two different Amex cards that share the same last four digits, and when I try to add both to AutoFill, I get the same “A card with the same number has already been added” message. Choosing “Replace” just overwrites the first card. Definitely seems like iOS is only checking the last four digits instead of the full card number.

Hopefully Apple can fix this in a future update. It’s pretty inconvenient for anyone with multiple Amex cards.
