Apple TV remotes controlling the wrong TV

I recently bought a new, 2nd TV. I now have one TV upstairs and one downstairs - each with their own Apple TV and Apple TV remote.

Each remote is paired with a TV.

However, when the downstairs TV is off and I'm watching TV upstairs, the remote upstairs seem to randomly control the downstairs TV.

What do I need to do to fix this?

Begin by ensuring each Apple TV is up to date with the latest software - tvOS 26.0.1

Update your Apple TV - Apple Support

Try pairing each remote to its corresponding tv again. Make sure the other tv and Apple tv Box are powered off while you do this. Restart each Apple TV Box after pairing is complete. Then test again
