  1. Delete the app: Tap and hold the Mail app icon on your Home Screen, then tap Remove App (or the 'x' if apps are wiggling), and then Delete App to confirm.
  2. Reinstall the app: Go to the App Store, search for Mail (make sure to search for the one from Apple), and tap the download/cloud icon to reinstall it.

Important Notes:

  • Email Accounts: Deleting the app does not typically delete your email account information (like your sign-in details for iCloud, Gmail, etc.). This information is stored in your iPhone's Settings > Mail > Accounts. When you reinstall the app, you may just need to go to those settings to make sure your accounts are still enabled for Mail.

  • Local Messages: Any emails that were only stored locally on your iPhone (common with certain older POP accounts, but less so with modern IMAP/Exchange/iCloud accounts) might be deleted when you remove the app. Most modern email is stored on the server, so it will simply resync when you reinstall.
