Permanent smudges on MacBook Air M2 screen

I bought my Macbook Air M2 chip last August 1, 2025. As I use the product, I noticed that there's a smudge at the upper right corner of the screen. I used microfiber cloth, but no effect. Now, I used damped microfiber cloth. Sometimes it disappears, but there are times that I can see the smudge, especially I am using dark mode. Can you please help me how to address this issue using home remedies? Thanks for helping.

Did you buy directly from Apple? This sounds like a used computer. The last M2 Macbook Air was discontinued in March 2024.

Were the smudges there when you bought it? Did the seller offer warranty coverage?

What does System Settings > General > AppleCare and Warranty say about any coverage?

If you bought it used, your options are:

— live with it, or

— spend US$500+ on a new display assembly. That is a sealed assembly and individual components like the screen cover are not separately replaceable.

Based on many similar posts here, continuing trying to mitigate the damage at home usually makes it far worse.
