How do I setup an AirPod replacement?

I just now ordered a replacement for a lost right-hand AirPod. How do I go about pairing the new one to the case and left-hand AirPod?

iPad Pro, iPadOS 18

Have you tried putting the new and the old one and the new one and the same case to connect them? You may need to forget them then connect with them again.
