Apple music playlist all folders are in dropdown mode
All the arrows are pointing down, and the folders are open. If I do get it fixed by playing around with it, it will do it again, and all the folders are open.

If you click on the downward arrowhead to the right of the "Playlist" it should toggle the dropdown mode.
The version Tahoe we are using is still unofficially in beta and it won't be finished until probably sometime in November.
You might try creating fewer Playlists. I have five playlists on my Mac. Classical, The Hits, Albums and Country and Misc With in these I have 3900 songs in The Hits, 156 Classical, 14 Albums and so far nothing in Misc.
I have the same problem and have already contacted Apple Support, but apparently they can't fix it either. I find this very annoying and frustrating! Does anyone have a solution for this problem? Otherwise, I'll have to look for a third-party non-Apple app because this isn't working for me.
For me, that was not it. The arrow closed the playlists. They fixed it in 26.1. BUT now all the songs have to be checked. This is done by selecting songs on the left and selecting all, then the checkmark. Now it's ok again.
A screenshot would help since I haven't a cluw what ypu are talking about.

It always worked before. I make a playlist per artist. It works for me. It should continue to work.
