Number 6 button not working on my MacBook Air

My number 6 button won't work in Apple-related software. It works in some instances, like Safari and Google Docs, and the ^ button works as well. It won't work in pages, this application, notes, messages, and emails. Sometimes when I first start the computer it will work in all the applications for a little bit and then it stops working. I have updated the computer and I have a work around for it - I have added the word "SIX" to be changed with the number until I can get this resolved. This all started with the newest update.

Hi! I’m the original poster. I went to the Apple Store and a technician fixed it. He determined that it was some application because the number worked in safe mode. Then he went through and closed open appplications - it was grammerly! We deleted that app and the number 6 works again.

An easy check if you have a spare keyboard. Have you tried an external keyboard? If there isn't an issue then likely it is your keyboard.

Not an easy test but if you really think it is the OS upgrade then go back to the old OS and see if it still is a problem. Generally when we see a "this happened with the latest update" posted here the timing is purely coincidental.

If you think it is the OS, tell Apple about it Product Feedback - Apple
