Apple Music pauses play when switching apps on iOS 26.0.1

This was happening to me long before the new iOS 26 update and I cleared my cache and reset cache warnings or something and it stopped. Try closing down all apps that naught be running in the background as well and it should sort it out.

failing that sign out of Apple Music and sign back on or try a soft reset

Yes! This is driving me insane ever since I updated my phone. Whenever I’m switching between tabs or just open a new app (directly or from the notifications), my music pauses. Not just music, even YouTube videos that are playing in the background, it is so frustrating. Also, I use Spotify, if that matters.

iPad Pro -- MQDT2LL/A -- iPadOS 17.7.10

Same issue, and it seems to have started within the past week or so (end of Oct. 2025).

If my iPad is playing a song in Apple Music, and I just go to the home screen, the music stops after 1-2 seconds.

I don't even have to go to a different app... just going to the home screen is enough.

Interestingly, if my iPad is playing a song in Apple Music, and I lock my iPad, the music continues to play.

This problems is *not* occurring on my iPhone 12 Pro running iOS 18.6.2.

This started happening to me actually before the update. I ended up updating the iOS and restarting phone. It’s still happening worse now

when the phone locks, after I close another app, anything with camera or photos

basically can’t use phone and enjoy my music

Yes it does but only on Facebook for me at the moment, been a few glitches on iOS 26.0.1

Yes this is happening to me as well!!!!! I’ve restarted my phone and shutdown and it continues. Apple fix this ****. It does this for all my music apps.

Any clue on how to fix this? Just stopped music on my Apple TV while using the Facebook app. And have been controlling the music on the tv with the remote feature on iPhone. So it’s all platforms I guess?

Honestly frustrated that I did this update at all, I use my phone for music all day and it seems like the slightest thing pauses my music now. If I want to listen to music I basically need to not use my phone 😑

I HATE MY NEW IPHONE 17. This is also happening to me. With every media streaming app. I switch from apps or when my phone locks everything stops. So many glitches. I ended up losing all my data even after I backed it up. Went to the store and was on the phone for hours. This phone is giving me so many problems.

Yes! This is driving me crazy! I’m usually either listening to Apple Music or listening to a YouTube video while looking at Facebook and every time I go to swipe out of FB, my music or video pauses and I have to go back and hit play again.

This just seems like a pretty stupid mistake that’s hard to believe didn’t come up in any beta testing.

Apple, please fix this soon. Really annoying for no reason.

Same. Music and podcasts. Since the latest update, have music or podcast playing, then when in other apps it will randomly pause. Frequently when I adjust the volume it will just stop. Very frustrating. It used to happen on occasion, now it’s a regular problem.

Any resolution to this? This started happening to me as soon as I updated to ios26. I’ve tried all the suggestions from searches, but it keeps happening. It is the most annoying of the many bugs in this update.

Also having this issue. Currently running 26.0.1 and any playing audio (Apple Music, podcasts, YouTube, etc.) will pause whenever closing an app or returning to the Home Screen. Particularly noticing this with meta apps.

I noticed this on my iPad Pro (that I got in 2016/2017, can’t remember exactly) tonight. Very weird. Not so much on my iPhone 7 which I just switched to using alongside my iPad for tonight. Any ideas yet?

Same for me, every time I exit Facebook app it pauses since the 26.0.1 update. Drives me crazy.
