AirPods Pro 3 disconnecting during Zoom and Teams calls on MacBook Pro M1

I think I'm dealing with a bug between the AirPods Pro 3 and my 2021 MacBook Pro M1 running Tahoe 26.0. Several times now, mid-Zoom or Teams session, the AirPods Pro just stop working. The mic stops working and I cannot hear anything. MacOS still reports that the AirPods Pro 3 are my active speaker.

Putting them back in the case and then putting them back in my ears fixes it temporarily. But it seems to happen after about 15-20 minutes of use.

I didn't run into this with my AirPods Pro 2 - those continue to function normally with my MacBook Pro.

I may have stumbled onto an answer, but I'm not 100% certain.

On both the iPhone and the Mac, there is an AirPods Pro 3 setting called "Connect to this [iPhone/Mac]". It was set to "Automatically," and I think my iPhone and my Mac were competing for control of the AirPods Pro 3.

I now have both devices set to "When last connected this [iPhone/Mac]" and I was able to make it through a call without losing audio during the Teams meeting.
