Still experiencing frequent Wi-Fi drops on iPhone 17 Pro Max after updating to iOS 26.0.1

I thought this would solve the issue (according to the notes it's supposed to) but to no avail. I am seeing more frequent drops now. I have to turn Airplane mode on then off again to get everything to restart. Resetting network settings doesn't work either.

Anyone else experiencing this even after the update?

I finally fixed my iPhone 17 Pro Max yesterday (was having the same issue as OP even after the update). Turns out running a VPN or having this setting toggled on is affecting the connectivity/ signal with wifi and mobile.

Delete any VPN configuration. Settings > General > VPN & device management

Hope this works for you as well…

Hey coffee.

I did not end up getting a new phone. I did book a Genius Bar appt and the tech performed a full restore of the phone. So essentially it removed the OS and stalled a fresh, new OS. It has probably fixed the issue about 95%. I have only had one drop from CarPlay and I’d say the amount of drops from my WiFi is similar, if not better, than my 16 pro max.

If you’re 300 miles away from an Apple Store I’d connect it to your Mac (or windows machine through iTunes) and perform a full restore. It will wipe everything from your phone. Have to setup as a new phone too. That basically did it for me 🤷‍♂️

Did you have VPN originally? Did you reinstall?

Hey @Sauriann I agree. Very disappointing. I found a trick that involves going into WiFi settings and on your network tapping the (i) and then tapping on “forget this network” then resetting my entire network. I use cable so unplugged the routers and modem. Let them reboot and then reconnected to my network. So far so good. I’m going to test this out and see how it works. I have put my phone to sleep and woken it up to test it and it hasn’t disconnected yet. If it does I’ll make a Genius Bar appt and see if i can get a new phone. My brother’s phone (17 pro max as well) is working flawlessly so not sure what’s going on. It was working before the 26.0.1 update as well so 🤷‍♂️.

Yes please keep me posted! Thank you for your response!

Hey! If you’re referring to me, then nothing else has changed as far as my update is concerned. I have set up a genius bar appointment for tomorrow late morning in hopes of exchanging for a new phone.

After I forgot my network and reset my network things have gotten better but again yesterday as I am networking for new jobs during my call with this person, the call dropped and it’s very frustrating as these folks are trying to help and are busy and I have to mess around with turning off Wi-Fi calling and calling them back. This is quite embarrassing.
