since the update to IOS 26 I have issues setting the location availability for the HOME App, some times the settings let you put ALWAYS, but after a few minutes, it change to only using the APP. (some times the always option disappear) screen shots:
this cause issues with automations arriving or leaven home.

Same here. I somehow managed to make it work on my phone but it doesn’t work on my wife’s.
Mine shows the “Always” option. Although, as mentioned by OP, I can’t keep it selected because after a few minutes it asks if I want to allow widgets to use the location services (and reverts the configuration to “While using the app & widgets”).
My wife’s doesn’t show the “Always” option.
On a separate investigation, I’ve read that clearing the Significant locations can help.
I noticed that my wife’s “home” is a different circle than mine. So maybe she’s never considered to be at “home”. I’ll try clearing hers.
This has also happened to me. Both situations, “always” not being available, and it switching back to “app and widget”. Apple seems to struggle with location services every iOS major update.
unused to wait until a .x would come out but now my employer is forcing the updates on my phone. Unfortunate.
I have the same problem. My geo-automations aren’t working anymore either.
