Calendar search in Sequoia doesn't work anymore

I have updated my mcbk air to Sequoia 15.7 (24G222). However, now when I try to find old calendar events using the Search feature it seems to be hit and miss: some former events show up yet If I type in a different search feature I get a blank page even though when I manually scroll down the event is there. This search feature USED to be a great help. It's now primarily USELESS! Can anyone help me figure out what's going on? (I did go into my system settings and checked that "events and reminders" was checked in Spotlight).
