Apple Pay Charge Warning Text... Is it a scam?

I have received a text from +63 947 *** **** that appears to be a fraudulent phishing expedition. I do not use Apple Pay at all and have never set up Apple Pay, and the reference to https://getsupport.apple.com is not the standard Official Apple Support address. Please verify if this is true or fraud. Here's the text message:


Unverified Apple Pay Usage


Your Apple ID (Case No. 6491*******) has triggered a security warning. A pending $287.99 charge at "APPLE STORE - Orlando, FL" was detected via Apple Pay Pre-Authorization. Additionally, multiple unauthorized sign-in attempts and Apple Pay setup requests from unknown devices have been flagged. These actions are temporarily blocked, and the charge is under investigation.


If this activity is familiar, no action is required, and the transaction will proceed within 24 hours. If not, contact Apple Support immediately at +1-805-***-**** for assistance.

That’s a phishing attempt from scammers and its literally been reported 100’s of times if not 1000’s. 


Apple would never contact you. Your bank (issuer of card) would contract you. Banks do the exact opposite of the message you received. If they suspect fraud the transaction is stopped immediately. You have to call to verify the transaction, not call to stop the transaction. 


“Don't answer suspicious phone calls or messages claiming to be from Apple. Instead, contact Apple directly through our official support channels.”


”To report a suspicious SMS text message that looks like it's supposed to be from Apple, take a screenshot of the message and email the screenshot to reportphishing@apple.com.”


You can report phishing at these links and most importantly your local law enforcement.
