Airpod Pro 3 - Ear Allergy SOLVED, I hope!

I just recieved my new APP 3 and I'm happy to report my ears are doing just fine so far. Maybe too soon to tell but for all the peeps that have had issues with allergic reaction in their ear canal to APP 2 these may be the solution. I've already worn them for over 30 minutes, several times now with no issues. When using APP 2 even that short a time would produce positive allergic reaction in my ear with wet ear canals from drainage. I will increase wear time tomorrow to about 2 hours to see what occurs, hoping that nothing happens because I love the AirPods Pro 3, sound frickin amazing, beter bass and separation. One other thing the ANC is "spooky" the silence is such that it feels weird at first, just incredible silence when these are on with ANC. So far I LOVE THEM!!! Lets hope my ear canals behave and love them too.

I had the issue with APP1s and with 2s - but I'm delighted to say that I've worn my 3s for long gym workouts, travel into town etc for the last couple of weeks and I've had no issues at all as yet! And yes, the ANC is incredible - it matches that of my over-ear headphones (which are awkward for gym, get in the way and make my ears uncomfortably sweaty) .. there's often a CrossFit class that starts across from the free weights area in my gym in the morning, and they BLARE the music out. I could only hear a bit of it through my own music when mine was fairly quiet - other than that, fully blocked out. Magical.

I'll update further if anything changes as the buds wear with use, but I'd already be itchy as anything by now with the previous versions.

It’s almost official in my book but will wait out verdict bit longer. But for me seems these APP 3 are not allergic. Wore them several times over 1 hour no issues and yesterday did a 1/2 hour exercise routine bit of sweat and did refit once during exercise. Had on for full 2 hours after clean off at exercise end. Today ears are totally normal no issues. Seems Apple has worked some magic in more ways than one with these new pods!!

I have the airpods pro 1. Started the ear leaking, randomly, took me a long time to find out it was the airpods pro 1 tips, got new official tips from apple and leaking/infection continued. Foam aftermarket tips worked to stop leaking/infection. New airpods pro 3, ears started leaking after about 2 weeks of casual use. Hopefully when new aftermarket tips released i can test some. Also allergic to airpods 4 non aftermarket somehow, bought fully aftermarket painted airpods 4 also allergic.

I had a same issue with AirPod Pro2 and I had to give those to my Wife. Now I was searching info about pro3 silicon materials and allergic reactions and first hit was your post. Thanks for that. I am very pleased to hear, that AirPod Pro 3 has solved this allergic problem (hopefully) cause I loved those old ones until I got draining ears. Maybe tomorrow I will buy a new ones. All thanks go to you and your post. Finger crossed... (Picture: after 2h usage with AirPod Pro2 and this was result .. A couple of days later, my ear canal was totally wasted and needed medical treatment)

Very hopeful indeed. I loved the AirPods 2 except…. It was like putting poison ivy in my ear canals. Intense itching and discomfort. After a fairly long process Apple did finally offer a full refund upon return and I will wait a while to confirm the new ones are non-allergic. My current Skullcandy are a poor substitute but no irritation at all, even on a 7 hr flight.

Unless an event comes up that’s of longer use time these pods are not an issue for me. I’ve been using them for calls, outdoor walks and workouts with zero issues. I’ve worn about 2 1/2 hours for the longest time so far. I’ll post again when I wear for over 4 hours if and when that occurs and the results of that event. It appears these new tips and or the pods themselves have different chemical properties that make them easier for people to use who had allergic reactions to the app 1 and 2. I myself never had issues with 1 only 2, both versions. Glad to read other people had success wearing app 3 as well.
