Airpods pro 3 chirp/high pitch noise

Hi,

I just got the AirPods Pro 3 and whenever I put them in my ears/adjust them or just listen to music, I hear a high pitched sound/chirp in my left ear.

I tried all the troubleshooting possibilities such as resetting, changing from ANC/transparency/adaptive/off, cleaned them, tried different tip sizes, etc.

I even tried putting the right airpod in my left ear and it still happens in the left, so I’m guessing it’s an issue with my ear canal but I was still thinking if getting a replacement could help or if I could tone down the feedback that causes this.

I also had a few tries in the accesibility tab to tone down the transparency amplification but that didn’t work either.

My normal airpods 3 didnt have this issue at all so I guess it’s related to feedback from ANC/transparency. Does anyone else have this issue? The only temporary fix I found is placing the tip 0.1mm away from the airpod, right before it snaps into place and that makes it better

Thanks

AirPods Pro 3

Ok so after reading all these comments and booking a consultation with Apple (later cancelled - read on to see why) I am confident I have found the solution. And the answer? Diligently try ALL ear tips making sure the AirPods are “screwed” into your ear. I started with the as supplied ear tips and got the chirping. Which is actually random electronic ringing caused by the anc feedback loop overworking. I then tried small tips. No improvement which is when I booked a call to Apple. But then I thought why not try the large ones. Hey Presto problem solved for me at least with the correct size ear tips again in my case the large ones. After two days no chirping so I cancelled my Apple meeting. Now a week later and still no chirping and all is good. I’m getting 8 hours of battery life in hearing mode with a couple of hours of streaming in the mix. Of note I regularly “re-screw” the AirPods as they seem to want to work their way out of my ears. But overall a good experience. No ear discomfort after a whole day of use and absolutely no chirping. Even took a 1 hour domestic flight on a 737 in cattle class and the anc was a huge benefit. So keeping testing those ear tips until you find the right size and not necessarily the same size for both ears. Oh and that “tip” about rotating the ear tips. Rubbish. The ear tips are symmetrical. Sadly our ears aren’t. By patient and persevere. It’s worth it.

Bought the APP3 late Sept. Worked like a charm the first week. The noise cancellation is ridiculously good. So good in fact, that no one should ever engage it while driving because you can't hear anything outside!! After that first week the weird whistling/chirp/feedback-y sounds began in the left earbud with either transparency or noise cancellation activated. Doesn't happen when those features are off. Tried every ear tip and resetting. Was able to get a Genius bar appointment on the 14th day, the last day of the return window. I was told I could exchange mine for a new pair. Unfortunately they were out of stock so all they could do was replace the left earbud. The issue continues with that replacement earbud. I'm outside of the return window and the Apple guy basically said they're not gonna be able to keep replacing the left earbud if the issue continues. The issue continues so I'm stuck.

I've had my AirPod 3's for a few days. Chirping occurs when in hearing assistance mode: in Transparency frequently; in Adaptive only when picking up conversation; in ANC only when conversing with someone.

The chirp is akin to a home smoke alarm low battery warning going off in the next room. The first time I tried them in Transparency mode I actually looked at the smoke alarm in the room to see if it was blinking but it wasn't, of course, since it's a 10 year hardwired/battery system I just installed.

So we're having an early nor'easter tomorrow and looks like I'll be stopping by the Apple Store while walking in the mall. First I'll try the reset troubleshooting method. Hopefully that'll resolve it.

Have a pair of AirPod 2's and could faintly notice some issues with hearing assistance with them as well. Instead of chirping it would be more like the mics for external sound would turn on or up from time to time with a very faint squeak in the left pod.

Same issue for me.

First time it happened randomly, and it hurt in my ear!!! This was awful.

I reset them, and after few times I repeated this, the problem was solved.

Yesterday on the bike tour, after 4 hours into my ride, the left pod malfunctioned again.

Now I try returning them.

Sad that such a premium product is not working properly.

Seeing this issue of the chirping after a Heavy week of perfect operation

left ear chirps up to 4 times, this can be trigged by tapping the pod its self or simply placing it in your ear . After the error started there’s constant pink noise sort of hiss and cracking noises during operation

the ANC also seems to be toggle between modes at times triggers form the buds

I have video clips of the chirping and also the glitching mode switching behaviour

since the issue appeared I’ve refit them with different tips, consistency re adjusting the position in the ear,I’ve preformed resets and repaired but again I’ll re iterate the pods were working perfectly for a week with no issue. So for me the improper fit is not a factor

Same issue & they’re literally a day old. My AirPod pro 2’s have been through it, being washed multiple times, dropped in a lake, ran over, etc, & zero problems. I noticed the 3’s feel almost cheaper in a way. This is unacceptable & I’m baffled that other people are already having this issue. Here I was thinking Apple might’ve turned the table with these and made actual improvements in their products. Looks like I was wrong.

Same issue here, on my second pair now and am so disappointed. Chirping in my right bud even if i just touch it to adjust, and even when i hold them they both chirp whistle loudly.

I was on a flight yesterday - ok for 30 minutes then constant chirp in the right one... absolutely useless as it is ... so much for a 'premium product'. Mine 20 quid cheapos did a better job. Anyway will go to the store this weekend for a refund unfortunately, but i really wanted to like them :(

Had exactly the same issue on a night flight back last night (I'd worn my AirPods Max on the way out which were as old and faithful as ever, but had loaned them to my kid for the return flight so I had the buds in) - horrendous and made them absolutely unusable for flying.

Not at all impressed since I only bought these a week or so ago to replace some of the original AirPods Pro which had developed the static issue.
