NowPlayingTouchUI process using too much memory on macOS

Hi, I noticed that the NowPlayingTouchUI process is constantly taking up a large amount of memory (2–3GB) on my Mac. This makes my system slower and increases swap usage. I’m not sure what this process is or if it’s safe to quit it.

  • Mac model: Mac Pro 13 Inch ,M1, 2020
  • macOS version: MacOS Sonoma 14.7.2
  • Memory: 8 GB
  • Symptoms: High memory pressure, swap usage around 8 GB, system slowdown.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is there a fix or a way to safely reduce its memory usage?
