Apple Music stops playing after one song on Apple Watch

I just upgraded to iOS 26 on both my iPhone and Apple Watch Ultra 3 and now Apple Music will only play one, or sometimes two, songs on my watch before stopping. It doesn’t matter if I select an album or a playlist. I get the same thing with Apple Music stopping on its own. I first noticed this while using the workout app and going for a run, but I am also getting this while just trying to listen to music and not working out. I found this previous discussion that mentions the same thing: Apple Watch Ultra 2 stops playing music p… - Apple Community. Anyone else having issues?

Problem solved for me ! I found the sustainable solution. I think the conflict is linked to Apple Music session open in browser version. You must disconnect from all browsers playing Apple Music web player with your account as you can’t play on more than one device.

I leaved my computer at work with Apple Music web player version open with my account connected and music paused. Then I had this problem when listening to my music using Apple Watch. Next song not playing. When I unlocked my iPhone, Music displayed the message that I can’t listen to music on more than one device with my subscription. After each song I think there is a conflict with other device connected to your Apple Music account. Disconnect from web browser playing before listening with your Apple Watch.

Tell me if it works please.

I have the same issue. Go to gym, start music playlist and after one song it stops playing songs from the playlist! Very annoying to have to "manually" advance to next song! Very annoying to have to restart Apple Watch after starting a workout! Very annoying that this long time issue isn't fixed! Quality is not what it use to be... just my observation.

Same issue with AW7 26.1. The only workaround is to restart your watch before you want to use offline music, then it works for one or two days. it’s really annoying.

Offline podcasts are broken too btw. If you pause, the progress is lost. Also after playing whole podcast, it’s not marked as already played and not removed from watch.

I think same happens with music, watch looses the progress of the song and does not play another since it doesn’t know the current one is over….

The only other place I use Apple Music is app in Tesla car.

I’ve had the same problem for such a long time. Apple Watch had been perfect for my running until this happened. I would have to try to skip close to the end of each song.

The lengthy process of unpairing watch and phone, and deleting the music app (this one caused much panic after all of my music disappeared, and was stored on iTunes on an old laptop)

these “solutions” only worked for a short time.

A new watchOS update happened to have appeared this morning, as I’ve come looking for the solution, once more. It specifically mentions this problem.

Fingers crossed this is a fix.

Not fixed for me in 26.2. As others have reported, the music app plays two or three songs from the playlist and then stops. When the music app stops playing, it rewinds itself to the first of those three songs and stops there. Only a restart of my Ultra watch fixes the problem. Problem applies for playing music from Ultra watch 1 using ear-pods. The issue has persisted for some months now and I am wondering if it is taken seriously by Apple. Excellent usability…?

Same on my Ultra. It stopped while running after a few songs and when I tapped my airpods to go to the next song - it went to the song from a few songs ago. I kept thinking it was because it was on shuffle. But shuffle never repeats a song so quickly. And it didn't dawn on me it wasn't fixed even though the music was stopping. This explains why during my race last weekend I kept hearing the same songs over and over. This bug still needs work!
