Unrecognized text messages on iPhone

3****5 number keeps sending text messages to me and I don’t recognize the number, nor can I get any information about the number? I’ve contacted friends whom this number has said they posted something and they have not.

Original Title: I keep getting text messages from 3****5 showing its from one of my friends and it is not. is this a scam on iphone
