Cross dissolve on text blocks doesn't work

Since the latest update, I've had various problems with FCP but this is the only one that doesn't fix itself by closing the programme and opening it again.

I'm trying to use the Cross Dissolve on text blocks. I usually place it in the middle of the two connected blocks/clips and that's it done. Recently, however, it doesn't let me put the transition in the middle and has to be at the end of one clip or the start of the other.

Any suggestions? All of the text blocks are copied and pasted on top of the video clip and then edited, which is how I've always done it.

I've added the image below. The top Cross Dissolve allowed me to place it centrally, but the bottom one wont do the same. Whenever I try to drag and drop it in the middle, it will move itself.

Transitions only work at edit points, where one clip ends and the next one begins.

If there is additional media for the clips (which in principle is the case, since they are titles),

you can adjust the positioning of the transition (which effectively adjust the duration of both clips).

Move your pointer near the edge of the transition, until the cursor changes,

and looks like this (or similarly on the left edge):

Then drag left or right to adjust the duration of the left (or right) clip

(moving the transition along).

ALTERNATIVELY, remove the transition, press T to activate the Trim tool and drag the

edit point left or right, adjusting the duration of both titles (while keeping the total

duration the same); then add the transition again.
