AirPlay would be one obvious way.


Some receivers may have it built in. If they don't, you can get a set-top box or streaming stick which is compatible with AirPlay and has HDMI or optical digital audio outputs, and run one of those outputs into your receiver.


Then, with any luck, you will be able to AirPlay audio without turning on your TV.


Some smart TVs have AirPlay support built in, but turning on a TV set seems a bit much just to play music.


Another possibility, if your receiver supports Bluetooth input, would be to connect to it as a Bluetooth device.
