apple mouse looses connection to ipad when on an external monitor

So i have a 6th gen iPad Pro connected to my external monitor with a HDMI cable. The iPad is running iOS 26 and the Mac Mini M4 is running Tahoe 26 so everything is up to date. Display settings are set to allow cursor and keyboard between the two devices. The cursor is operational from about 5 minutes and then it disconnects and then I dig out my Logitech mouse to finish. Of course it’s Bluetooth to the iPad. The Apple Keyboard if it connects reacts about the same way. I see lots of other people seem to have a similar problem but I seldom see any fixes. So one last time, does anyone have an answer to this dilemma? Using my Logitech is not a problem - I just keep wondering what is going on with my apple mouse which is supposed to be operational.
