Do you have an iPod touch (6th generation) or iPod touch (7th generation)?
Most iPods do not run iOS and so are not able to run the Apple Music app. The first through fifth generation iPod touches run iOS, but cannot update far enough to run the Apple Music app. That leaves only two iPods (the ones mentioned above) that are compatible with the Apple Music service.
You can update an iPod touch (6th generation) to the latest release of iOS 12, or an iPod touch (7th generation) to the latest release of iOS 15. This is enough to run the main Apple Music app (which only requires iOS 10.0 or later), but not t run the specialized Apple Music Classical app (which requires iOS 16.0 or later). (It would still be possible to listen to classical music – you just wouldn't have access to the app that's "optimized" for that genre.)
