Unable to move or organize apps after iOS 26 update on iPhone 16 Pro

Since updating to IOS 26 - unable to rearrange app icons on home pages. (Iphone 16 pro)

When I press on icon, to move it, after it jiggles, it disappears; then when I let go, after a second, it pops up and reappears. But will not let me move, or add to a folder. I can only delete it.

I have tried: clear caches. turn iphone off. Pressing volume up, down, then pressing right button untill iphone goes off and restart.

It’s a two hand process. I was able to move an app after holding it for a few seconds of jiggling and kept hold it while using my other hand to swipe to the page I wanted the app to be and was able to place it in the correct folder. Once in the folder I was able to rearrange the folder. The iOS is 26.0.1.

I still haven’t found any improvement yet even though I have waited since the iPhone Air came out the first day. Yes I have a lot of information on my phone, but I have a lot of extra space left to be able to add apps, etc.. I have lost my ability to be able to move apps from one page to the next page. They just returned back to where they were originally.

I hope they can fix this soon in moving apps. It’s never happened all this time since I started using an iPhone three version years ago only with the iOS 26..0.1 has this happened.

I too can’t get ANY of my apps to move ANYWHERE since the 26.0 update (on both my iPhone 17 Pro and my iPad 12.9” 6th Gen) - the exact same thing happens as the original poster.

I’ve tried all the suggestions here and none have worked.

Please help!!!

I need things organized a certain way and this is so frustrating!!

I have over 80 free GB on my iphone 14 and ever since ios 26 which i deeply regret! i no longer want to use my iphone at all! its is so slow and i cant switch between apps. they dont go away I can’t pull up and then over to swap toggle between apps anymore … it just sits there and does nothing or sits with the thinking wheel…when it never did before. if i wanted that I’d get a crap Samsung! i only upgraded because of my apple watch . my ipad is still ios 18 wish i stayed there because now i want to throw my iphone in the trash. i have so much important things about my health saved on it and i have a bad memory from liver and kidney disease so i can’t learn new things right now and my phone worked great before Upgrading the ios. Not being able to go back to 18 is so dumb. One of the biggest mistakes I have made in a long time was upgrading to ios 26 and IM FULL OF BAD CHOICES 😆! If anyone has any idea of how to fix it met me know ! 🩷

Even after installing the latest update public release of 26.1 no improvement to the moving of apps feature or the whole icons disappearing issue that is still ongoing on my iPhone 17 Air. I am beyond disappointed that Apple would release an iOS version so filled with bugs that basic operations that were once smooth and easy are now difficult and problematic and in some cases simply cannot be overcome depending on the issue.

The main thing that attracted me to Apple way back when I purchased my first iPhone which was the iPhone 3 followed by the 3G is the simplicity of it all. Over the years they have done a pretty consistent job of keeping it that way until now. It seems like now it’s all an experiment with a rush put on things that just are not ready for public release when it comes to iOS updates. The reality is this Apple is becoming overly focused on how many features they can pack into iOS and not on how they can continue to keep it simple.

if Apple wants to serve the general public the focus should be on design improvement and creation of their products as well as quality control of the production of them, and finally pricing.

The iPhone Air could have been much more successful if it they had focused on hardware like battery life and camera capability as well as performance, and antenna quality. I personally love the phone itself from a design perspective but it leaves a great deal to be desired in other areas for the price. But I digress. iOS 26 a flop in many ways and Tim Cooke should have had them working on it longer before its release date to make sure it was ready for the public.
