Alternative to QuickTime 7 PRO for M3 Pro Sonoma?

I was a very happy user of QuickTime 7 PRO on my old MBP High Sierra.

QuickTime 10 lacks in user friendly features like editing an audio recording. What would be a suitable (free or not too expansive if possible) alternative to QuickTime 7 PRO?
